The Institute of International Commercial Law of the Pace
University School of Law extends an invitation to scholars at Law
schools and Faculties of Law who research the CISG or the UNIDROIT
Principles or the Principles of European Contract Law. The Institute
invites scholars to submit:
Masters or Doctoral dissertations on aspects of the United Nations
Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) or
the UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts or the
Principles of European Contract Law (PECL) and essays on these
subjects for inclusion in this database.
We encourage access to the database Pace maintains on the Internet.
It contains thousands of citations to scholarly writings on the CISG
or the UNIDROIT Principles or the PECL; its sections on jurisprudence
contain presentations on hundreds of CISG cases. The database also
contains much information on legislative history and other items of
interest to scholars in this field of law.
An invitation to share scholarship at Faculties of Law
The Institute of International Commercial Law would be honored to
publish on the Internet Masters or Doctoral dissertations on the CISG,
the UNIDROIT Principles or the PECL that have been approved for
publication by one's Faculty of Law. Interested persons should send to
Pace a disk and a printed or typed text of the dissertation. Pace will
convert the text of the dissertation to the language of the Internet
(HTML) and return an Internet-readied presentation to the author for
proofing. Following receipt of the author's edits, the Pace University
School of Law would be honored to publish the dissertation on the
World-Wide Web and send to the author a hard-copy Internet off-print
of the dissertation. There are two parts to this offer:
For an illustration of the manner in which we present this material
on the Internet, see for example our Annotated
Text of CISG article 66. This is a provision of the CISG that
deals with passage of risk. From this annotated text, you may link to
the full texts of four theses on this subject: a perspective authored
by a scholar of Canada at a Canadian university, a perspective
authored by a scholar of Greece at an English university, a
perspective authored by a scholar of France at a French university,
and a perspective authored by a scholar of The Netherlands at a German
university. These happen to be English texts. Faculty approved theses
in ALL languages are eligible for publication under this program,
subject to the proviso stated above: the author of this material
must proof our Internet readied text of the thesis prior to the time
we enter it on the "net".
We seek to help set in place a global jurisconsultorium whereby
jurists and arbitrators of all jurisdictions, counsel who plead before
them, fellow law students, fellow thesis writers and other scholars
who comment will have an improved opportunity to consider doctrine and
jurisprudence on uniform law from all jurisdictions, including
jurisdictions other than their own. You can help by participating in
this program.
A further invitation: The Pace Essay Competition
We also invite students at Faculties of Law to participate in the
Pace Essay Competition. The rules of the Competition are stated in our

We extend two separate invitations
We extend two separate invitations: a dissertation invitation, and
an invitation to participate in the Pace Essay Competition. The
dissertations we offer to publish on the Internet may be in the
language of the scholar's choice. Masters and Doctorate authors are
encouraged to contact Database Manager Marie Newman: mnewman@lawlib.law.pace.edu.
For the Essay Competition, submissions must be in English and should
be addressed as indicated in the Essay Announcement.
