The Professor Tang Houzhi Case Translation Program was inaugurated at the October 13-14, 2007 seminar on The Application and Interpretation of the CISG in Member States at the Wuhan University School of Law.
This program is dedicated to an extraordinary leader of International Commercial Arbitration of the People's Republic of China. A colleague of Willem C. Vis, Founding Director of the Institute of International Commercial Law of the Pace University School of Law, Professor Tang Houzhi is Honorary Vice Chairman of CIETAC; Vice Chairman, CCPIT/CCOIC Beijing Conciliation Centre; Professor, Law School of the People's University of China; Visiting Professor, Amoy University School of Law; Arbitration Advisor, UN International Trade Centre; Fellow and Chartered Arbitrator, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators; Former Court Member, LCIA; Honorary Professor, Hong Kong City University School of Law; Vice President, International Federation of Commercial Arbitration Institutions (IFCAI); and Advisory Member, International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA).
To qualify for the seal of the Professor Tang Houzhi Program there must be three iterations of each translation: First iteration, translator's text; Second iteration, review by persons fluent in the CISG who have English as a mother tongue; the Third iteration is a further edit by persons fluent in Chinese, English and in the CISG.
